Although I woke up to the sun this morning, it has since grown overcast. Oh late autumn as it falls into winter.

This last week as I paged through hundreds of blog posts, I took note of some of my faves to share with you.

Happy almost-birthday to me!
When Xenia of Found Paper Co. was hosting giveaways during her customer appreciation week, I thought what the hey – why not enter. So I was absolutely delighted when I WON! At any rate, my package arrived and kicked off what should be a fabulous birthday week.

In other news (which is decidedly my favorite transitional phrase), I am moving to the Seattle area next month. Kelsey asked if I would like to rent an apartment with her this (school) year as she goes to grad school. Did I want to? Yes. Could I afford it? No. Can I afford it now? Ummm, not so much lol. But I am confident enough that I’ll be able to find a job/continue some of the contract work I am doing now.

If you are acquainted with past decisions in my life, you will know this is quite the sudden decision for me. I only called to give her the good news on July 31st – leaving about a month and a half between decision=made and move=accomplished. I don’t know that it has fully sunk in, this impending relocation (perhaps see earlier post regarding certain procrastinatory habits of mine when it comes to packing). At any rate, I am quite excited for the opportunity to settle into a new place (Enter Stage Left: Organizing gene and Decorating gene) and explore and have adventures.

I was standing at the kitchen sink, eating strawberries and pondering blogs I had been browsing earlier when I decided to change the sidebar on my blog.

The chronicles (or adventures perhaps) of an aspiring adult

This evolved into the tag-line rather than the sidebar description, but I don’t think that’s quite as relevant as the phrase itself. Not only does it adequately/accurately describe the my blogging to this point, it inspires me to go forth and proliferate (writings, that is). In fixing what is the elusive (and illusive) purpose of this defined space on the web, I can more appropriately target my thoughts and posts in that direction.

Granted, of course, it is incredibly vague and bridging the gamut of an insatiably wide range of topics, but I am entirely okay with that course.

So onward and upward. Let’s make this adulthood something entirely worth leaving childhood for (leaving of course being a relative term, because I am simultaneously determined to decipher just how to cultivate a delicious, childlike appreciation of life for the rest of it).

Once upon a time…

As I commence this, the nth (we’ll say fourth for archival purposes) version of my blog, there are questions.  Questions that need answers!  Many stem from how is this going to be different from previous blogging endeavours… which to a certain extent cannot be fully answered until after I have blogged for some indeterminate amount of time.

At any rate, one noticeable difference is the current absence of any archives.  I haven’t decided how specific to allow this blog to be, so when I should be doing homework, I’ll be wandering back and re-publishing some (all?) old entries.  I may also get around to manually adding the blogs I salvaged from the b2 server loss a couple years ago.

One goal is certainly to blog more, another is to blog more coherently.  Rather than anything resembling a detailed chronicle of my life, I anticipate an artful conglomeration of random experiences, thoughts, and writings.  By way of introduction, the following will impact what and how I write:

- my Christian faith
- majoring in English
- minoring in Computer Science
- having spent 4 months in Europe, 3 at language school in France
- living in the United States
- conservative political positions
- occasional inclinations toward the more fanatic side of certain fandoms

So… on y va (Let’s go)!

That’s pretty much it…my life basically revolves around my upcoming trip.

Somehow it always feels as if less time has passed between posts than actually has.

Today I was feeling the lack of a message board community in my life.  And I’m contemplating searching for one to latch on to.  I really do enjoy online communities.  Of course what with unpredictable internet access in the fall, now may not be the time, but whatever.

I always have great ideas for reforming my life or trying new things…never really happens because I just flake out.  I’ve been putting off forking out the cash for my France school…but I’m going to reserve my place in Paris tonight. (yes…I am)  So maybe I’ll put myself out there and actually link my blog on facebook again.  Or not…probably not.  It will take some deliberation to really determine that I want potentially unknown people I know treading the pages of my thoughts.  There are approximately 2 people I know in RL who I know have the address to this page.  Others I think I’ve given it to, but they never visited and probably lost the URL.  So no facebook link.

And I want to start tagging things.  My categories are lame and insufficient.
And posting regularly
And squeeing about Viva La Vida…because Coldplay is the love.

Shhh…too much brain activity.  Such lofty goals.  First thing’s first.  Chuck $2000 so you can meet some people who don’t know English and speak French with them.
